    So.. through trying to optimize my OBS settings, using both Base OBS and OBS Studio.. I've somehow managed to completely screw my shit up. So.. who knows when the hell the next time I'll be live again is.

    GG OBS. Piece of shit.

    That is a total and complete utter bummer man. Hopefully you can get it figured out sometime soon. I remember struggling a lot with OBS and I still struggle with it on the daily. I recommend reinstalling all your drivers for your devices, that worked for me and maybe that'll work for you as well. Just trying to help ya out.

    I know you're trying to help man. I appreciate it. What I don't understand is that just yesterday, my OBS worked for everything I wanted to stream, it just gave me lag issues on only The Division. I try tweaking today, and all hell breaks loose on everything. Makes no sense.

    likely just something going on in the background. could be installing a game in steam, antivirus being a bitch, or a windows update acting a fool.
    pin down what is different or happening, then resolve that. should you have no way of resolving it, i'll get with you after i finally wake up.

    Dunno what the issue is and doubt I can do anything to help - sorry you're having troubles and I hope you can get it fixed soon! Just thought I'd throw it out there though that I had a TON of issues with OBS Studio when trying to make the switch over. Ended up just sticking with classic OBS because it works 100 times better for me.

    UPDATE: I FIXED MY DAMN OBS! Not the absolute best settings for The Division, but at least now I can actually STREAM THAT GAME!!!!!!!! Basically, had to set my Encoding Profile from veryfast to superfast, downscale to 468, and up Process Priority to High as opposed to Normal. Hopefully, it doesn't do TOO much wear and tear on my CPU, because while it may be a dinky ass AMD FX-6300.. it's still the only thing that I have at the moment. I'd love to get my hands on even a 3rd Gen i5, but.. yeah.. Can't afford that.

    So.. that being said.. I intend to be streaming tomorrow! For at LEAST 6 hours. I'll post a Self-Stream message on this site when I go live, as well as on the Facebook Group. Let's see how things go. :emoji_grin:

        Haha. I already streamed. I'll be streaming again on Tuesday. Got Sunday and Monday all booked up with errands and Memorial Day stuff. :emoji_grin:

        I kind of want to bump this thread since the last reply is nearly 6 months old.

        OBS studio is far better than it was at the beginning of the year, and far more stable. It also uses 30% less CPU while streaming and recording, and almost every single plug in you had to manually install in OBS classic is already built into the Studio version. You also do not need to start the app as an admin if you are running the 64 bit version of Studio. Also if you have a weak CPU, the Nvenc .264 encoder for Nvidia graphics cards 700 series and higher, the encoder for streaming is much better in Studio than it is in classic. Your GPU renders your stream 100%, which is good if you have an Intel i3, i5 or even a mid level AMD CPU.

        Not sure about the claim of 30% less cpu. Both of these use the same encoder the only difference being their Programing language, container, and options they can do.
        I can check later but mirrored settings should show close to identical cpu usage or technically slightly more on studio as there's more things that it calls to and is coded with a wider range of options/features than its predecessor.
        People used to claim that xSplit used less cpu, but i debunked that before. The difference was that xsplit fresh install set the cpu preset to veryfast while obs used fast. About 80% sure a fresh install of studio actually uses veryfast also.
        Now i'm not going to rule out that Original vs Studio there's a drop in cpu without testing as i found that xsplit with identical settings to Original OBS, xsplit uses more cpu. I don't remember the actual overall cpu usage % but want to same something like 5-14% more. That test was done on an i7-3770k and overclocked to 4.5ghz at the time. So on a slower cpu or AMD of any kind, it would have a drastic performance hit.

        If you specifically would like to see a real world difference between Original and Studio, i'll do a fresh windows install and get a test using the same stock footage, settings, and show what the average cpu usage is between those two.
        I need to do a fresh install anyways to showcase the new Avermedia Live Gamer Portable 2 that will be arriving on Wednesday.

        I tested this a few months ago. Ran GTAV on both the classic and studio versions with no capture card.

        My i7 3770k OC at 4.6ghz, GTX 960, same x264 preset, same bitrate.

        OBS classic 41% CPU usage shown on the bottom of OBS. Windows task manager had 100% full CPU load.

        OBS studio 18% CPU usage shown on the bottom of OBS. Windows task manager showed 76% full CPU load.

        Not trying to blow smoke up anyone behinds. Of course the hardware does factor into things. This is from my own testings that I have done and sent to Jim, the OBS dev.

        I have since abandoned that set up and down clocked my CPU in favor of running the Nvidia NVENC encoder, No stress on the CPU while stream, and rendered through my GPU at the expense of maybe 10%-20% less quality on fast moving scenes.

        While I do look at others examples, I am not a lazy person especially when it comes to building custom rigs. I have learned to trust my own testing and benchmarks, and any information I give I do it from my own perspective and findings.

        strange findings, i'm going to assume windows 10 is being used?
        I know from doing a lot of recordings that both obs versions i run stay pretty close in cpu usage for me.
        prior to my 4.8ghz overclock playing pretty much any huge game and using medium preset ran me about 75% cpu usage with 45fps lanzcos filter (if i was downscaling).
        I'll have to look into it after i do my reinstall. I use both depending on what i'm doing.
        green screen functionality is far superior on original. dialing in studio you either have to screen grab your background on cam then look up the hex code for the color or play with the settings all day till you finally clip out the fuzzies and halos.
        Dont understand why they didn't put the dropper/color picker like original has.. drives me nuts though.
